Pleasures

1a. My son indulges himself a lot in pleasures. He rarely pays attention to his studies.

1b. My son prefers pleasures to studies. He seldom focuses on his studies.

- Are these two sentences grammatical and ok to say?

Thank you very much, Teachers

um... satisifying himself sexually. ) Therefore the first part of the sentence is far better in 1b.

  • um...
  • satisifying himself sexually.
  • ) Therefore the first part of the sentence is far better in 1b.
  • I don't see much difference in the second parts.
  • I don't much like the repetition of "studies" though.

I hope you don't find what I'm about to say offensive, but I when I read "My son indulges himself a lot in pleasures" it sounds like he spends all day ...um... satisifying himself sexually. (The phrase "pleasuring himself" means to engage in that act.)

Therefore the first part of the sentence is far better in 1b.

I don't see much difference in the second parts. I don't much like
