A harrowing first person account of one man's miraculous survival best describes "Touching The Void" by Joe Simpson. If you are looking for a realistic, thrilling and shocking story you should definitely read this book. “Touching The Void” is truly an outstanding account of suffering and courage brought about when disaster struck after Joe Simpson and his climbing partner, Simon Yates, (main characters) had just reached the summit of a remote 6,000 meters peak, in the Cordillera Huayhuash in the Peruvian Andes, better known as Siula Grande . While descending, Simpson plunged off the vertical face of an ice ledge, breaking his leg. After this unbelievable event, several minor accidents and difficulties started to happened and Simon, who now had to help Joe climbing, with a rope, had to make a really difficult decision: whether to cut the rope and let his friend fall or died both.
