Essay & Composition Writing

Please, tell me whether my essay is off topic or not

I found it rather difficult to understand what is "decision making about sth". To my mind it is mere advice and it is up to a person whether to follow it or not. Well, so much for idle talk, let's get going.

The topic is:

Should governments make decisions about people’s lifestyle, or should people make their own decisions?

There is no thing in the world that people would repeatedly do with such eagerness as telling others what they ough to do. Unfortunately, governments have undispitable authority on this matter, and it is far easier for them to alter their citizen's behaviour, than vice versa. In this light, I am inclined to believe that people should not follow government's decisions blindly.

Meanhile, I do not claim either that every decision ought to be neglected without any consideration. The safest advice in this case that people can take without much doubt to my mind is about things they should not do, eat or drink. There is no harm in jogging or eating vegetables, however, everyone is already well informed about all restrictions and regulations pertaining to their health. Such advice often have little effect. On the other hand, people are most suceptible to believe and follow advice that is meant to make their lives better. It goes without saying that appeals to do something rather than not do to are most dangerous for those who follow them blindly. A government comprises many people of different views and virtues. Some of them may be easily bribed and their decisions would have a biased nature. For instance an official decides to that all people ought to wear gas masks further on, because of bad air condition. Docile citizens go to the store and buy those masks and miraculously there are just about enough for everyone, because some company that manufactures these masks bribed the official who was in charge for decision making. Air pollution, also, poses a major threat and the government may decide to raise taxes to cover the expenses for buying some cutting-edge equipment for air cleaning. So, the gravy train goes on and on to great astonishment of bona fide citizens, who relied solely on someone else's decisions.

To summerize, I think that in some cases where little money is involved, people ought to adhere to governments' advice. However, in most cases I would thoroughly consider every decision that is made for me, because there are too many agencies in the world that strive to manipulate people's mind to their advantage.

Regardless of how naive it is, do you think I answered to the point?

I would assume that the topic is about laws governing what people can or cannot do. For example, some governments specify exactly how a woman must dress when they are outside, and if they must be accompanied by a man or not. Women can be punished for not obeying the dress code.

The short answer is: you need to rewrite that essay in a simpler and more direct way. You should also organize your ideas into two or more (not just one) body paragraphs. As for being off/on topic, you need to write about specific points/examples, not just general concepts.
