Please tell me, that is right form or not about 'HOW to do....'

usually I ask a question with the way: How to do .....?

but it seems a English-circum people can't understand what's 'How to ...'

I think proper manner is 'how can/could I do...' or 'how do I do...' etc.

so please make sure to me, Do you use the form 'how to do...'? what about the position?
