Please tell me if this sentence is correct

1)Is the below sentence correct and what exactly it means or in which situations it can be used?

"Do you see this <some object>?"

2) What is the difference between "can you see" and "do you see"?

In general, can implies ability, while do implies actual process. In this case, I think either would fit just fine.

With verbs of perception such as see,hear, smell, taste we generally use can in British English. There is no real sense of ability involved.
