Please teach me this one

A comma is not normally used before an adjective followed by and:

The town was cold, dark, and, inhospitable.

Could you please indicate the comma which is being pointed out?

Thank you.

The "rule" you mention is absurd. It would mean that no comma should be used after cold: The town was cold dark, and, inhospitable. My suggestion: The town was cold, dark and inhospitable.

You are correct, there should not be a comma after an adjective that is followed by the word "and", not should there ever be a comma after the "and" either.

Cool Breeze gave you the correct format for your sentence

The town was cold, dark and inhospitable.
