Those groups’ members belong to the abc tribes from the xyz villages. Most of them are illiterate and suffer abuses and discrimination from the non-tribal people. Currently they cultivate certain rice and tuvar at their lands, mostly for own consumption and a few of them of them, depending on the land large, also for selling it at the local markets. Since some months ago, they are collecting medicinal plants from the forest in small quantities, above all for own consumption, and for selling it to the middlemen, because they don’t have access to the companies for its direct sales. Those groups meet once a month in xyz to talk about their problems, put together the plants they have collected, pulverize the dried plants with the mortars, and think in the way to sell it.

In order to elaborate a good identification of the needs at the area, several workshops have been conducted with these self-help groups that have already been discussing the idea of a possible project at their meetings during the last months.



In the monthly meetings of the 3 self-help groups of xyz villages have been discussing their situation, daily problems and obstacles they have to improve their life quality. At those meetings, the members of the groups have detected and identified some specific problems and improving needs.



Most of the groups’ members are illiterate, they can not read/write in any language used at the commercial centers. This let them in a complete vulnerability situation, from the local markets where they try to sell/buy their products, to the big market (companies to whom they could sell their products, etc). They don’t know the functioning of the market, the offer demand of the products, they don’t have access neither direct contact with the potential client companies, etc.
