The purpose of this game is to get students to better understand about the capacity management and how it is practically used by the managers in the general markets. In making rational decisions, our team members worked closely together in predicting the future capacity demands and planning out when to purchase or to sell the machines.
Our team had made few mistakes: first, we lack the time to communicate efficiently before we make rational and consensual decisions. For example, we had gone through about few simulated days in order to decide on whether a new machine would be purchased or a sequencing rule would be changed. Second, we wasted several hundred thousand dollars for buying unnecessary machines. Purchasing new capacities cost way too much, it was an absolutely risky decision because it would decreased the cash.
