Either move and make, or moved and made.

But if your fingernails made deep cuts, what you were doing was not "moving your hand" but "scratching."

Hi

Thanks for the response. please helpme furthur: I'm not trying to describe a deliberate action that causes the deep cuts. If I say:

I moved my hand across the plastic sheet, and incidentally made a deep cut on the surfqace.

is this better?

thanks.

Hi,

You seem to be thinking of 'accidentally'.

'On the surface' suggests your cut did not go right through the plastic sheet. Perhaps it's a very, very thick one?

Best wishes, Clive

Hi,

When a person makes goals in life, he or she should make plans toward accomplishing his goals.

I'd say

When a person chooses goals in life, he or she should make plans to achieve them.

Best wishes, Clive
