0The sentence in bold is okay, but "How long will you be gone?" or "When will you be/get back?" would be better. (After all, it won't help much if the mother plans to spend only five minutes at the supermarket, but it will take her an hour to get there and back!)0-

00Nona -- I agree that the format of this was confusing -- but I thought the original poster was asking 01i00us02i00 if it's acceptable to have the daughter say "how long are you going to be there?", rather than the daughter asking the mother "Can you say how long you're going to be there?
