The line graph provided compares three distinct countries in terms of the percentage of people who are at the age of 65 or more between 1940 and 2040

During the research period, all three nations witnessed considerable increases in the figure for 65-year-old-and-over people. Meanwhile, Japan has the most significant change in the future.

In 1940, the percentage of adults at the age of 65 and over of the USA was highest, at 9%. The rates of Sweden and Japan were slightly lower, at 7% and 5% respectively. From 1980 to 2000, there was a moderate growth in the proportion of American and Sweden citizens aged 65 and over to 15%. In contrast, the data for Japan saw an insignificant decline to reach a peak of 3% and then it recovered to the starting point in 2000.

From 2000 to 2040, the percentage of Japan is forecast to experience a substantial rise to 27%. Similarly, the figures for the USA and Sweden are expected to continue their rising momentum to 23% and 25% correspondingly.
