Please review my Writing Task 2

Globalization is creating a world of one culture and destroying national identity.

To what extent do you agree with this statement?

Currently, there is a huge concern over the negative effects of globalization. It is generally believed to be the main cause of national identity erosion while spurring the creation of cultural monogamy. In my view, however, I totally disagree with this statement as globalization not only defines the identity of a nation but also aids cultural conservation.

To begin with, the cultural values originating from foreign sources are being widely adopted by the indigenous population. The cultural identity of a nation, thus, can be enriched by the presence of external ethnical values. In Vietnam, for instance, Vietnamese people celebrate both Lunar New Year and Western New Year which has been introduced to the nation since the government opened its economy. In short, through cultural adoption, countries are able to adapt and economically integrated in the event of globalization, whereas being able to retain their traditional values.

Moreover, globalization also serves as a medium to promote the national values of a particular country. Thanks to international transportation system, tourists from all corners of the world can appreciate the history, tradition and custom of a nation. Revenues from tourism sites, in turn, can be allocated to cultural conservation programs. In fact, without income from tourism, hardly any national heritage can not be thoroughly preserved. Additionally, countries can become the organizers of international sport events, through which their status is elevated and national identity propagandized.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that instead of not being a hindrance to a cultural diversified world, globalization aids the development and protection of cultural identity.
