The use of social media is replacing face-to-face interaction among many people in society. Do you think the advantages outweigh the disvantages?

It is true that the new technologies have an influence on the usual habits of communication between people. In my opinion, this trend could have both positive and negative consequences in equal measure.

In terms of advantages, the advances in technology could have a great deal of benefits on using social media. Firstly, social networking sites can assist people keep in touch with our love ones. Students studying abroad, for example, can keep in contact with their families or friends on a daily basis using a video call applications of Facebook, wechat, or zalo. Secondly, businesses all around the world can interact without meating each other. This result in, companies can save a great amount of money in order to do other important concerns. Finally, people using socia media can make new friends who share common interests and communicate through their computers rather than face to face.

On the other hand, these developments can have some drawbacks. The social media can the result of isolating peope and discouraging real interaction. Many young people, for example, choose to make friends online and mixing with their peers in real life. In addition, these days, the number of computer hackers is rapidly increasing in developed world, stealing privacy information on networking sites. Therefore, face-to-face communication can avoid some dangers of social media. Also, the use of social media also effects on the style of speaking and writing. Many people, especially in teenagers, have a habit of unsing abbriviated words in text messages. This could lead to some difficulties when people write academic essays or formal emails.

In conclusion, the use of social networking sites replacing face to face communication will have both beneficial and detrimental effects on people in society.
