Topic: The chart below shows the price in Euros of 800 grams of four types of bread in one European country from 2001 to 2006
My essay:
The line chart compares four kinds of European bread in terms of the cost for 800 grams between 2001 to 2006. The types are wholegrain, brown, white and rye.
Overall, an upward trend was observed for most of types except for the wholegrain. Additionally, the biggest change was shown for the price of brown bread.
In 2001, wholegrain bread accounted for the highest cost compared to the similar price for three remaining types, at 0.8 and 0.6 respectively. The next year showed a significant increase in the prices of wholegrain, brown and white, with wholegrain cost reaching the peak at 1.8 euros, while people only spent less 0.1 euro than before for rye bread.
In the following years, the price of wholegrain declined steadily to 1 euro in 2003 and to the bottom at 0.7 in 2004 prior to bouncing back mildly at initial price. By contrast, both brown and white cost exceed the former to climb at 1.6 and 1.1 respectively after one year. The white bread price continued to undergo a linear rise to approximately 1.3 in 2005 whereas that of brown took the lead after dipping of 0.2 in 2004. Rye bread cost ranged between 0.6 and 0.7 euros.
