Many people believe that TV commercials are an efficient type of advertising to introduce their products and services to our clients. In my opinion, TV commercials are not a good way anymore because of four reasons.
First, there are more and more people who use social media applications instead of watching television to entertain themselves. According to the recent survey, most young people prefer to use social media applications. Therefore, I think business owners should purchase advertising packages on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok in order to access to the targeted customers.
Second, the cost of advertising on TV is very high. For example, if they would like to advertise on TV, they have to pay about five million VND per day on channels such as VTV, HTV and so on whereas there are some commercial methods which are affordable like flyers and social media. For that reason, TV commercials are not suitable for medium and small companies.
Third, TV adverts are always censored very strictly before it is allowed to launch. Although firm owners have enough money to advertise on TV, their items can be prohibited to advertise on TV if their videos have sensitive scenes. So TV commercials are a bad idea for corporations which specialize in bikinis, underwear and condoms.
Finally, the amount of promoting time on TV is not very long. Most channels allow an amount of promotion time which takes about one and two minutes. As a result, it is very hard to present details about their service and products for their targeted customers. While the amount of advertising time on social media can last over four minutes.
In conclusion, TV adverts are not an efficient way since it has less and less popularity, high cost, strict censorship and low amount of promotion time. There are some better ways such as advertising on social media applications, newspapers, magazines and so on.
