Writing task 2 – Science and Technology

Topic: We are becoming increasingly dependent on computer – based technology. How do you think it will change in the future? Is it good for us to rely so much on computers?

My essay :

Due to the development of the world, people are more contingent on computer artificial intelligence. While I believe that it will offer more benefits in the future, there are significant drawbacks if we rely excessively on computers.

On the one hand, it is obvious that computer - based technology has made human life become more convenient and simple to accomplish everything. Therefore, there is no doubt that humanity will become increasingly reliant on technological intelligence. In particular, in the next several years, scientists will develop a wide range of computing devices and machines such as driverless cars, robots or artificial synapse to take care of human life. Thus, not so far, human civilization will become a place where everything based on technology to grow and maintain, any difficulty in our lives could be easily handled.

In contrast, although there are many advantages of basing on artificial computer technology, numerous disadvantages happens if we use it inconsequentially. Firstly, the overweight reliance on computers has a negative impact on people's health. Spending too much time on computers can result in addiction to them and lead to mental health issues. For example, if you dip into artificial technology for a long period of time, it's a metaphor living in a virtual world with just your imaginations, separation from real life. Secondly, human's social relationships and living skills will be restricted and faded with time if we waste all our time for computers. Therefore, we will have to live alone for the rest of our lives with bad consequences on ourselves.

In conclusion, artificial computer technology has brought to human lives certain positive changes. However, people should not depend so much on computers to the point of losing themselves.
