The diagram illustrates the seven-step process of transforming sugar canes into the crystal sugar. Overall, the procedure can be divided into two stages, which are the juice-squeezing phase and the sugar-extracting phase.
It takes farmers three steps to attain the juice. The first step is growing the sugarcane, which takes between twelve and eighteen months. Once matured, they can be harvested either manually or industrially with tractors. Then, the collected canes enter a crushing machine, yielding the desired juice.
The remaining four steps contribute to the progress of extracting sugar crystals. First, the juice goes through a limestone filter. The purified liquid, then, is inserted into an evaporator, which utilize extreme heat to remove moisture and increase the consistency, resulting in a sweet syrup. Centrifugal forces are inflicted upon this product to separate the crystals from the solution. After the ultimate step of drying and cooling, the manufacturing process is completed.
