Please Review My Task 2

Topic: Convenience foods will become increasingly prevalent and eventually replace traditional foods and traditional methods of food preparation. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

My essay:

Nowadays, convenience foods are quite popular. They are consumed all over the world. Many people think that in the future, convenience foods will become much more common and eventually traditional foods as well as their preparation methods will disappear. According to my thinking, this is unlikely to happen.

It is no doubt that convenience foods will be increasingly prevalent. People tend to be busier and busier in the digital age so that foods which need little time to prepare might become the best choice for meals. In addition, convenience foods may bring a feeling of safety while the whole world has been facing a lot of problems with dirty foods.

However, I am sceptical about the disappearance of traditional foods and their preparation techniques.

The first reason is that traditional foods are parts of culture. We know that the soul of a country is partly in its foods. There are some occasions associated with particular traditional foods in every country. For example, in Vietnam, Chung Cake is one of the symbols of Lunar New Year while Moon Cake is only eaten in Mid-Autumn Festival. Certainly, a lot of foods made in traditional ways are irreplaceable.

Feelings people have when eating long-prepare foods can be taken as another reason. It is happy to enjoy a meal after spending a long time to prepare it. Moreover, if a family eat foods cooked in traditional ways, all of the members can feel the love that cookers put inside the foods.

Overall, convenience foods are likely to become increasingly popular but they cannot replace traditional ones. No matter how modern technology is, there are many important things that we can only find in traditional foods.
