Overall, the proportion of arrested men was higher than women. Although public drinking accounted for the most frequent reason of arrest, the least cause of apprehension was no answer for both genders.
About a third of men was arrested over the period. The primary reason was public drinking with around 30%, followed by drunk driving with approximately 27%. Breach of order, assault, theft and other reasons had relatively the same percentages, ranging from 16% to 19%, while no answers had only 4%.
Regarding women, exactly 9% was arrested between 1990 to 1994. Female arrest followed almost the same pattern as male. Public drinking comprised 35% of all arrests, while drunk driving, breach of order, assault, theft and other reasons contributed only about 12% to 18% each. No answer had the smallest percentage with 7%.
