Please review my sop for grad school i- Canada- ur suggestion and inputs are valuable.. Thankyou
I am--------,Master form ----------------- applying for Graduate program to strengthen my knowledge and progress towards PhD at your prestigious University. Catalyzed by a thirst for knowledge, Characterized by a strong sense of discipline and self motivation, strongly supported by excellent academic fundamentals and more importantly driven by a fascination and passion for Cardiovascular science I chose to go for Graduate research studies in the area of cardiovascular and renal science. . As an avid learner I am eager to confront the challenges by pursuing Graduate studies from a reputed university. To me cardiovascular science is of great importance in terms of personal complacency and career achievements. My ultimate goal is to become a mature professional in the field of cardiovascular science and also to see my research is made meaningful for the mankind .
Backed by a good academic record in Zoology and Botany in my 12 th grade couple with a strong zeal for science I opted for Herbal medicine ( Ayurveda medicine and surgery). I chose DR.M.G.R.MEDICAL University, one of India’s largest medical university. Admission system in DR.M.G.R.MEDICAL University is solely based on merit. My introduction to theoretical and practical knowledge of Physiology, Anatomy, Herbal Pharmacology including was rigorous and challenging, but sincerely I wanted more. During this period of under graduate studies I developed a profound interest for physiology and pharmacology especially focusing on the cardiovascular system. since then I started to link the pharmacological active herbal compound to the pathological conditions of cardiovascular system. This profound interest for cardiovascular science has motivated me to present an intra collage paper on “Effect of hridhya drugs (cardio-protective herbs) on hypertension and high cholesterol” during my undergraduate. The basic interest of logical thinking and analyzing has made me to stand as one among the top four in my under graduation.
As graduate study brings a cutting edge of field and provide a solid foundation to build the future career, my appetite for higher education have pushed me to chose postgraduate MSc in clinical drug development from William Harvey research institute, Bart's and London school of Medicine and Dentistry, the United Kingdom’s leading centers for pharmacological research. I chose clinical drug development to full fill my interest in understanding the process of drug development and clinical trials. I committed to work hard by studying several courses including Drug discovery and development, Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of drug development, Clinical study design, Practical aspects of clinical research and early drug development. My interest in pharmacokinetics has driven me on a successful path in my studies and I was graded distinction in interpretation of statistics and pharmacokinetics. Additionally, Under the expert wings of experienced industrial lectures from GSK, Pfizer, Novartis, Astrazeneca I was given a full -fledged understanding of pre clinical and animal toxicity studies. Along with my study I also increased my ability to communicate effectively in a global city. The diligent curriculum at Barts and London school of medicine and dentistry, with its time-tested course has enabled me to widen my skyline on fields of pharmacology, in particular cardiovascular science which has persuaded my eagerness into a deep charisma for the subject. My interest for cardiovascular pharmacology was identified by my co-ordinator and i was given an opportunity to work as student trainee under Dr.David collier and his clinical research team of William Harvey research institute clinical research center's Hypertension study (GSK2-Hypertension) , where I learned different aspect of clinical trial including protocol development, maintaining trial records, scheduling patient visit according to protocol, data collecting and data entry, sample collecting, analyzing the sample, monitoring and execution of the trials. Taking part on their anti hypertensive trial and monitoring the trial merits and demerits ,my interest to study and research more on the cardiovascular pharmacology especially on anti hypertension drugs has boosted. As a part of my Msc i did dissertation on ‘’Benefits of Clinical trial participants beyond the protocol limit for ASCOT participants” which not only gave me a in depth understanding of ASCOT(Anglo-Scandinavian Cardiac outcome trial) but also a brief idea about current antihypertensive drugs. Because of my interest I also learned more about the anti hypertensive drugs and statin drugs and their pharmacological effect on cardiovascular system. I am working as a herbal consultant in London which is giving me opportunity to share my ideas and prescribe time tested herbal formulation to my patients, which is getting me fame. Knowing about hypertension and its effect, my interest in cardiovascular pharmacology has amplified. This deep charishma for cardiovascular science is motivating me to pursue graduate studies and bestow myself to research. I need to gain more knowledge and research into several areas of cardiovascular pharmacology and effects of antihypertensive drugs on other organs systems. I find MUN cardiovascular and renal science as a encouraging place for my interest to pursue graduate education and perform research under talented professor . I believe my background of rare educational experience in herbal medicine and my charisma for cardiovascular science makes me a suitable candidate for graduate work in the area of cardiovascular and renal science. it is my objective to make a significant contribution to this field. I believe ---has indeed the academic setting I needed to evolve as a researcher. I am prepared to make a unique contribution to the area of pharmacology to which I am really exposed to and assemble things that will help me to accomplish my dreams.
