In this day and age, a wide number of zoological gardens are mushrooming in and out of cities and becoming attractions for children as well as adults. They are supposed to be home to endangered species and ill-used animals, however, sometimes zoos can be prisons to them. First and foremost, zoos are artificial environments which cannot match the space, nature and the freedom which only in the natural habitats. This deprivation can cause zoo animals to become stressed, physically or mentally ill. Secondly, some of them are caught from wildlife habitats with the breeding purpose, which causes suffering of splitting up families. However, instead of releasing them into natural habitats, several zoos send them to circuses or hunting ranches to amuse humans. In instance, dolphins and whales in marine parks are forced to perform tricks even though that can be dangerous for them. Thirdly, being captured makes animals not only become rely on humans but also gradually lose their instinct and freedom to hunt for food. As a result, most of them are inactive and unable to assimilate into their natural habitats again. Finally, the inadequate space and unsanitary place in zoos can limit the growth of animals or lead to diseases, therefore their life expectancy tends to be shorter. In summary, instead of extending more zoos, people should take measures to protect endangered species in their wildlife habitats.
