Dear Sir or Madam: I am writing to apply for the Undergraduate Renewable Energy program at University of Dundee starting in the autumn of 2012. After finishing my secondary education in Bulgaria I’m ready to study abroad. I am confident that the University of Dundee provides excellent education quality on the subject that I chose for my furthering education.
Throughout my secondary education, I have studied Economics at a rather prestigious Economical high school. I was able to learn how to start my own business or how to manage it. I was able to learn how to be a good entrepreneur. I have participated in several in-school competitions for Business Idea, in one of which I was given a region from my country (Bulgaria), a laptop and 3 hours to research the region and present my business idea which had to be suitable for the place I was given. I won first place (among 6 other classmates) with my snail factory .But Economics Is not something I want to study and develop further in my life.
While my school activities are important to me, so are my curricular activities. I love to draw. Drawing has always been something I do at heart. I have never had the chance to go to a drawing tutor but whenever I have the time, I sketch. I have sketched with a pencil, a fantasy comics, called “Salted Red”. Both the idea and the illustrations are mine. I also have a portfolio full of my sketches and drawings.
But aside from that, I chose to apply at the University of Dundee because looking at the newspapers and hearing the news, made me realize how exhausted our planet is, made me want to choose Renewable Energy as a subject I want to study and practice later in my life. I’m not one of those people that are fascinated by flowers or one of those people that cherish every little insect. No, but as a matter of fact I always throw my garbage at a garbage can - something that not everybody does. I know that energy sources are little and energy is even less. I know that energy is the most important currency in our world, I also know energy comes with very high price for our planet. But why pollute and exhaust it irreversibly, when we are given so many ways of saving it by using its renewable recourses.
That’s what I want to learn. I want to learn how to make our planet a better place to live, because our existence depends on our planet’s state, and with this rate of depleting its resources I don’t think it’s in a good condition.
Yours faithfully
