Please review my IELTS WRITING TASK 2 essay.

Task 2: Government should spend money on railways rather than roads. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Some people claim that a large amount of money should be spent on the construction and maintenance of railways rather than roads. From my outlook, I firmly agree with this statement because travelling by trains brings us numerous of merits as compared to private vehicles.

It is undeniable trains are not only environmentally friendly but also fast means of public transport. Stated differently, they are capable of conveying a massive proportion of freight and passengers at high speed without releasing detrimental pollutants into the air such as sulfur dioxide or carbon dioxide. As an illustration, citizens in some countries consist of Japan, Korea, China select trains in order to go to their workplace.

In addition, travelling by rails is reasonable. While people can commute by trains with economical prices, they have to pay more on overhaul and petrol if their cars break down. Therefore, trains are suitable for low-income residents as they often find that cars are extravagant.

Furthermore, if people travel on railways to work, they will avoid traffic congestion. As can be observed, traffic jam is a problematic issue facing by metropolises during rush hour when a tremendous quantity of private transportation travelling on a same road. However, due to fixed schedules, trains can run smoothly and arrive at stations on time. In other words, travelling by trains is a plausible solution to tackle this affair.

In conclusion, the authorities should pay close attention on the development of railways as they are advantageous to our modern life. Likewise, governments ought to offers people an insight into the benefits of public transport so as to change their habit of driving cars and motorbikes.
