Please review my IELTS writing task 2

Topic: Scientific research should be carried out and controlled by the governments rather than private companies. Do you agree or disagree?

My essay:

At present, scientific research is a prospective area with a variety of potential outcomes it brings into human life. While there are some arguments in favor of scientific research by corporations, I completely agree with the view that this should be funded and supervised by governments.
There are two significant dangers that can be seen clearly from scientific research undertook by private sectors. In terms of the quality and accuracy of the scientific results, private companies which carry out the research may be tempted to manipulate the impossible outcomes in order to maximum economic profits. For example, thalidomide was known as the biggest man-made medical disaster ever, resulted in the birth of thousands of malformed children due to the horrific release without adequate trials. Furthermore, cutting-edge technologies in research such as gene engineering, embryo transfer are carried by uncontrolled corporations may lead to many ethical problems and profound social consequences. If transgenic animal areas are taken widely, no one knows about their unpredictable effects on evolution of species.
It is essential for governments that allocate resources and be responsible for scientific research. Firstly, universities are trustworthy and sufficient places where should be provided funding to perform high-quality research. Knowledge thus gained can be shared worldwide through academic community. Secondly, decisions made by governments is the best way to take into account the sustainable development, both present and future. One example is the increasing encouragement in using renewable energy to meet growing demands.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that governments should bear sole responsibility for scientific research.
