TOPIC: he best way to reduce youth crimes is to teach their parents parental skills. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

The raising number of young criminals has become one of the most significant problems for the society nowadays. Thus, there has been arguments to prevent youth crimes, one of which is better parenting skills. From my perspective, educating parents is not the best method to address the problem.

On the one hand, teaching parents parental skills may curb juvenile delinquencies. Because human’s behavior mostly develops by imitating the parents at early stage of life, a good set of parenting skills will have a huge impact on the children. Thus, with good characters and personalities being built up from childhood, children will have a concept of staying out of troubles when they grow up. Such concept then convinces them to not commit any crimes. However, such reasoning is flawed, because children in these days spend large amount of their time at school and therefore are more likely to be influenced by their teachers or friends. Therefore, teaching parental skills to parents is not always the best method to deter children from involving in juvenile offences.

On the other hand, schools and other educational institutions also play a major part in the prevention and control of juvenile crime. it is noteworthy that children may commit a crime or other wrongdoings under negative peer pressure at school. Therefore, schools should contribute to young people’s success development by providing nurturance and the opportunity to develop social and psychological skills. Such as vocational courses, soft-skills training and teaching laws to children in high school to keep children from embarking on a life of crime at the early age.

In conclusion, In order to address the problem of youth crime, parental training along with positive school guidance for youngsters would help shape young minds into law-abiding citizens.
