Write about the following topic:

Other people think that the only way to solve cultural tradition is to rely on tourists. How do you save such cultural tradition?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

The preservation of cultures is discussed by some members of society. Others believe that relying on tourists is the only possible solution to solving cultural traditions. However, in my opinion, there are a myriad ways to protect such practices including raising the awareness of the people and providing education to the public.

One practical method to conserving the cultural practices and traditions of a country is to increase the awareness of its citizens by giving pamphlets or making advertisements. For instance, the Department of Tourism in the Philippines is actively publishing on social media its campaign, “It is more fun in the Philippines,” where all the cultures and traditions practiced in the whole archipelago are shown. By doing so, such practices are recognized, therefore increasing the awareness of the people.

Another possible solution to safeguarding such ways of life is to educate the public regarding the importance of maintaining the identity of a nation. For example, the Philippine government mandated all schools in the country to add one subject to the curriculum dedicated to learning a vernacular language spoken in a particular locality. In this way, students are taught and reminded of their roots and the value of language in protecting and preserving a culture. Because of this, education is highly quintessential in the preservation of a cultural heritage.

In conclusion, society should not just rely on tourists to protect a country’s national identity. In my opinion, it is imperative to heighten the awareness of the citizens and to educate the public on the significance of conserving such ways of life.
