The pie charts below show units of electricity production by fuel source in Australia and France in 1980 and 2000.

The pie charts compare five different units of electricity production by fuel source in Australia and France in 1980 and 2000.

It is clear that Australians consumed coal most in producing electricity in two different periods of time shown. It is also noticeable that French people used nuclear to create electricity as a main fuel source in 2000, while in Australia this kind of fuel source was not used.

Looking at the information in more detail, we can see that in Australia the amount of coal used to produce electricity was double higher in 2000 (130%) than in 1980 (50%). The proportions of oil and natural gas decreased dramatically from 20% to 2% during 20 years shown.

This situation was reversed to France, the amount of coal remained stable at 25% in both periods of time, while the proportions of oil and natural gas also dropped to 2% than their previous numbers in 1980 (20%). Particularly, French people used nuclear power to produce electricity which was not used in Australia. The amount of nuclear power used was triple higher in 2000 (126%) than in 1980 (15%).
