The line graph illustrates some similarities between Chinese and American fertility rates during the period from 1920 to 2000
Overall, it is evident that the birth rates of both nations fluctuated considerably, with lows during the 1940s and highs during the 1950s
China's birth rates witnessed a slight increase from 10% to 15% over the period shown, then remained stable during 1940s. In the following year, the figure of China hit a peak point at 20%, however fell rapidly for nearly 3 years. As a result, the Chinese's childbirth number experienced a steady decline somewhere in the vicinity of 5% until 2000. The lowest number dropped at 2%
Meanwhile, there was a markedly fluctuation in the US birth rates over a period of 20 years. From 1937 to 1940, the proportion of fertility reduced to approximately 5%, a drop of almost 9%. After decreasing, the ratio of childbirth in America reached a peak of 15%. Then went down little by little, roughly 5% in 2000.
