The charts below give information on the ages of the populations of Yemen and Italy in 2000 and projections for 2050

The pie charts compare the percentage of Yemenis and Italians at three different age groups in the year 2000 and project them in 2050

Overall, the population of Yemen was much younger than that of Italy in the first year. However, in 2050, it is predicted that there will be more people aged 60 and over in both countries.

In 2000, while half of Yemen population was under 14, almost 15 percent of Italian population belonged to this age group. By contrast, there were approximately three fourths of people living in Italy aged 15 to 59 whereas the proportion of those in the other country was about 15 percent less than that, just 46.3 percent. Moreover, the percentage of people over 60 in Italy was about six times as much as that in Yemen.

In 2050, it is forecast that population in the two nations will become older with the proportions of people aged 60 or above almost doubled compared to those in 2000. On the other hand, while the 15 to 59 population of Yemen increases by 11 percent in the projected year, the figure for those in Italy will decline by almost 15 percent.
