Reducing global environmental damage should be handled by governments rather than individuals. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is believed that governments should tackle decreasing global environmental contamination than individuals. I disagree with this viewpoint because I think that both governments and citizens have to grapple with this problem.
On the one hand, some environmental issues are too big for individuals to deal with and only governments can have sufficient funds and resources to handle them. First, some serious problems such as global warming or storms can only be effectively solved by the cooperation of environmentalists. In fact, solving global warming requires large numbers of scientists and special technological devices to find the most effective solutions to solve this problem and it takes years. Second, the governments could pass laws to tackle the roots of environmental damage, for example, limiting the emission from factories and industries, or using renewable energy from solar, water, or wind power as alternatives to fossil fuels.
At the same time, I believe that each resident also has a responsibility to reduce environmental pollution. First, people could save the environment by very simple activities such as choosing products with less packaging or recycling and reusing as much as possible. Second, because exhaust fumes from vehicles are the main reason for air pollution, people can switch to eco-friendly fuels such as electricity, biofuels, or batteries. Finally, only when citizens are equipped with sufficient basic knowledge about environmental conservation, can the problem be handled. For instance, if youngsters are aware of the adverse effects of harming the environment from an early age, they probably will not litter the street or use plastic packaging.
In conclusion, I believe that governments can implement large-scale initiatives to control environmental issues, but individuals also have a responsibility to conserve the environment.
