Task 2: Some people think that organizing international sports events is good for the host country while others think it is bad. Discuss both views and state your opinion.

It remains controversial that being a country who hosts a sport event for global would bring advantages or disadvantages. In my opinion, although it would pay a heavy price, positive implication could be perceived from some perspectives.

It should be admitted that hosting an event of sport for a lot of countries participated in could be associated with serious risks. First of all, this action would impose a financial burden on a national budget by entailing a variety of costs. According to a report published by Ministry of South Korea Finance in 2019, for example, the costs for organizing Olympics 2018 included the stadium fees, the welcome parties fees, the money for basic needs of competitors, which lead to the total number about 20 million dollars. In contrast, without hosting that event, the government could invest that money for issues of immediate concerns such as: poverty, pandemic. Furthermore, with becoming a host nation for a global sports event, social security could be endangered. This is because hooliganism of some countries would be happened, which is responsible for increasing the crime rate.

On the other hand, a number of benefits could accrue if a country hosted an international sports tournament. Firstly, from an education point of view, being a host country could broaden knowledge of technique sports. The reason is that our citizens would have a chance to watch various sports, which hardly could happen lively over a long time. Secondly, regarding of social implications of this action, social bonding could be enhanced, which would be inexorably linked with a sense of belonging. This is particularly valid to like-minded people who both are spectators of this sport game. For instance, according to a survey in Korea in 2018, the number of people making friends through Olympics 2018 was about 60% out of all people participated this survey. In contrast, without this event, they would not instill a sense of community like that.

In conclusion, the fact that being the host country organizing a global sport event could be of great benefit. It is highly advisable that this choice should be widely applied.
