Task 2: Many countries use fossil fuels such as coal or oil as the main sources of energy. Do you think this a positive or negative development?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My essay:
There are a number of nations using non-renewable energy like coal or oil as their main sources. However, in my opinion, this is truly a negative development because of several aspects.
First, fossil fuels cannot be renewed. These types of energy need thousands of years to form a certain amount. As a result, it is undeniable that there is just a fixed quantity of sources of energy which is available for these countries to use in a short period of time. However, over several years, because of the overuse of fossil fuels, humans now face a shortage of these energies and try to find a new source to adapt to the huge consumption of people.
Second of all, these sources of energy affect badly the environment and human health. Those are not clean energy; thus, it could damage the natural habitats and lead to other bad consequences. For example, since the companies have to use heat as a means of converting those fossil fuels into energy, this action could release a large amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, which later destroy the atmosphere and contribute to global warming and greenhouse effects. On the other hand, human failure could cause bad consequences to the life of themselves and other animals. In particular, oil spills from the ships can contaminate the sea and nearby environment, which kills thousands of water species, affects badly the beauty of the surroundings, and even make the humans’ immune system worse.
In conclusion, overusing fossil fuels as the main source of energy in a number of countries could lead to worse damage to the environment and the earth’s natural habitats.
Thank you for checking it and hope you have a nice day!!
