Topic:

Some people argue that the overconsumption of meat has created many problems in the world. What are the reasons that some people eat too much meat? What can be done to solve this problem? Include examples and explanations from your own experiences.

My essay:

One of the biggest issues leading to devastating effects on both the global environment and individual health is the overconsumption of meat. I strongly believe that this disturbing trend comes as a result of our need for a filling, cheap and palatable source of protein, and a price control policy by governments for a wide range of healthier food as well as education and advertising are the keys to solving this issue.

Food is one of the basic requirements for human survival, and we fulfill that need by either eating vegetables, meat or fish. However, most people swear that eating meat makes us relatively more satiated, not to say far more appetizing. Also, the highly industrialize of producing this food allows its price to keep plummeting. As myself is a housewife with two kids, I can ensure that purchasing the quantity of vegetables needed for daily meals costs significantly much more than meat. Moreover, my children have a strong love for meat, along with a corresponding detest for fiber ingredients. Thus, these factors can be concluded as the base precursors to overconsumption of meat.

Governments can set a maximum price for avocados, beans and almonds, and provide subsidies for these food farmers to solve our gravity toward cheap meat. In addition, advertising and education addressing the detrimental effects of overconsumption of meat, as well as flattering how palatable green food is, can be another way to tackle this bad eating habit. A strong example is that my relatives often surround their children with cartons featuring some characters that love to eat broccoli. Ideally, kid naturally follows the action of their favorites.

In conclusion, although it is hard to move away from an inexpensive, succulent and satiated steak, the government and individuals can eventually tackle the overeating of meat via setting an affordable price for healthier alternatives and advertising to increase the awareness of this problem.
