Task 2

Some people say that music is a good way of bringing people of different cultures and ages together.

Music is an art form that has been in existence even before humans evolved. Through the years mainstream music has undergone tremendous change, so much so that people of various cultures and age groups have completely different kinds of music associated with them. Some people believe that people of different cultures and ages can be brought together with music, despite the diversity. I strongly agree with this and believe that music can be leveraged to form meaningful connections and pull people closer.

In ancient times, it was common practice among villages and societies to come together to sing songs and play instruments to celebrate various events. This shows that historically, music has always played an imperative role in bringing people together and establishing stronger relationships. However, music can often be something that people cannot arrive at a consensus on.

It is essential to acknowledge that everyone might not enjoy the same kind of music. Someone who is a staunch fan of rock music might hate country music with a passion. However, there have been an increasing number of instances where groups of people with contrasting tastes in music have found themselves enjoying a completely different genre. In the contemporary world, the youth has contributed significantly to revisiting old songs and making them go viral on social media. These songs catch on pretty quickly which often leads to young children and their parents and grandparents enjoying a few songs from the yesteryears together.

Apart from bringing families together and breaking the barriers of generation gaps, songs have also brought different cultures together. A recent example of this would be DJ Snake, a world-famous DJ, remixing a hit Tamil song in his style. This introduced an incredible Tamil piece that included beats and instruments, which Tamil tribes employ in their music, to a much larger audience worldwide.

To recapitulate, music has been, to this date, a vital contributor to human relationships. It has an incredible power to beat all odds and create bonds between people who might have nothing in common.
