Every year several languages die out. Some people think that this is not important because life will be easier if there are fewer languages in the world.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

Some people think that the dying out of languages is not a problem because life becomes easier with a lower number of languages. I highly disagree with this belief.
Humans are the only species in this planet that are capable of expressing infinite ideas through the use of speech, language, intonation, and much more. The loss of languages is not only the loss of an aesthetic part of what it means to be human but also the loss of culture.
First of all, this extinction does not, by any means, result in an easier life. Because of advancing technology, communication with a foreign party is no longer an impossible feat. For example, applications such as Google Translate can aid in the process. Additionally, if one wants to go a step further and actually learn a foreign language, the Internet provides this service for free, especially with applications like Duolingo, LingoDeer, and Drops. Consequently, language barrier is a surmountable obstacle and is not a reasonable excuse to support the extinction of languages.
Furthermore, one’s life does not solely revolve around language. Language is simply one aspect of life and just because the world has fewer languages, it does not mean the quality of life is suddenly enhanced. For example, a poverty-stricken person will still have financial difficulties. Additionally, taking a Director of a company with foreign branches as an example, their work is not going to suddenly improve because the world has fewer languages. They will still have deadlines, troublesome employees, and much more. Therefore, there is only a very weak connection, if any connection at all, between the death languages and how easy or difficult life is.
To recapitulate, some people are in favor of languages becoming extinct because they assume it makes life easier. Personally, I strongly disagree with this belief as language barriers can be overcome with a little effort and as the correlation between number of languages and quality of life is extremely weak.
