Please review my ielts task 1 essay: lifecycle

Topic: The diagrams below show the life cycle of the silkworm.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

My essay:

The illustration depicts the lifecycle of a silkworm, a commercial silk-yielding caterpillar.

The cycle is complete in about two months, between 57 and 76 days. There are five stages: the egg, the hatching, the larva, the cocoon and the moth. Approximately half of the amount of time is spent on the larvae stage.

Mature female moths lay several eggs on mulberry leaves, which are the primary food source for the silkworm. The eggs are incubated and develop for about ten days when the silkworm fully frees itself from its egg. At that point, it is called a larva. This phase requires about 28 to 42 days, in which the larvae eat and grow in size continuously. The fully grown larvae then spend about 72 hours to eight days on spewing out a thin, long silk thread, which they use to spin itself in an egg-like structure case, called a cocoon. The larvae rest inside its cocoon and change gradually into the adult form, the moth. After 16 days, the transformation is complete and the moth emerges, starting the reproduce again.
