Question

The two maps below show an island, before and after the construction of some tourist facilities.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

The two maps show changes made to an island after building some facilities added for tourists who come to the island. It can be seen that the island made many changes over time, including new accommodations, restaurant, and reception.

In the past, there was no place to accommodate people. After a while, some places are constructed in two regions located in the center and left of the island. People can walk along the footpaths between different parts of each accommodation building. In addition, there was a lack of restaurant and reception before, but after some changes, a restaurant and a reception have been built on the island between two accommodation parts. Tourists can go from a pier which is added later to the reception building and the restaurant using a vehicle on the road that is constructed afterward.

What is more, there was a beach on the far left of the island that is remained unchanged, however, swimming is possible for people who travel to the island after changes have been made.

So, it is clear that the island changed dramatically and became a very different island when compared with before.

Was the road constructed after the restaurant?)

So, it is clear that the island changed dramatically and became a very different island when compared with before.

Model essay:

The first map shows an uninhabited small low-lying island about 230 meters long (east-west) by 50 to 80 meters wide (north-south). The second map shows the island after its development.

The undeveloped island has a small beach on the western end, and a site suitable for a pier on the south side. There are a few palm trees growing, but otherwise, the island is empty.

After development, many visitor facilities can be seen. There is a pier for small boats to dock and discharge passengers and supplies. The reception building is about twenty meters from the pier, and behind it, perhaps ten meters, a restaurant. To the east and west of the reception, there are accommodations, in the form of huts. The west section has nine huts, and the east has five. There are footpaths leading between all the huts, the beach, the restaurant and reception, and a circular vehicular track around the reception building leading to the pier. The swimming beach is closer to the west section. The eastern end of the island has not been developed.
