Topic: Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Playing games teaches us about life.

My essay:

Quite a few people, especially children are fond of playing games. We can see children play skipping in schoolyards or adults enjoy playing badminton in the parks. Undoubtedly, games bring us so much fun and connection. However, apart from these benefits, playing games is a great way to learn about life.

Firstly, playing games teaches us strategies we can apply in real life. Actually, most games come from the original ideas in real life. For example, chess imitates the battles between two countries. During play this game, we have to analyze various situations and evaluate our assets and rivals before making decisions. In real life, when we meet a challenge that we also need to estimate the situation and consider our ability before deciding what to do next. For instance, it would be dangerous to rescue a drowning person by ourselves without having good swimming skills.

Secondly, we can build up teamwork skill by playing games. Playing soccer or basketball provides us opportunities to cooperate with others to achieve common goals. In each match, we learn how to communicate efficiently and support each other to overcome difficulties. That is similar to what happens in real life. When we works in companies, we interact with many people such as our clients, colleagues, and managers. We can hardly work together if we cannot convey our ideas in an understandable way to other people.

Last but not least, playing games helps us know the value of perseverance. The road to success is not easy. When playing games, sometimes we must take multiple attempts to accomplish given tasks. That is also true in real life. If someone wants to gain a scholarship or become a good doctor, they must put a great deal of effort reach their goals.

In conclusion, I believe that games not only bring us enjoyment but also teach us various things about life including the ability to analyze situations, the role of teamwork skill and importance of perseverance.
