The Internet has dramatically altered our lives over the past few decades. Although some of the changes have been negative, the overall effect of this technology has been positive. What is your opinion?

In modern society, the Internet plays an indisputably crucial role in our lives. Although there are some disadvantages it offers, I believe that technology has changed people’s lives for the better and generate various benefits.

On the one hand, technology can have some negative effects if people are over-reliant on it. In fact, people can face some health problems such as near-sighted diseases when using the Internet excessively in the long term, especially children who can easily be absorbed into the technological devices without monitoring of their parents. In addition, when people have access to technology, they are inclined to be in touch with their friends via social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram because of the conveniences that the Internet brings. Therefore, people may do not want to communicate with each other in person and tend to be lazy to meet their friends directly, this trend may lead to social isolation.

On the other hand, thanks to advanced technology and the Internet, people can keep themselves updated with current affairs. In fact, people can post status and share their opinions via social networking, hence, they may make more friends and open their horizons, and have an in-depth understanding of many aspects of life. Furthermore, with the advent of technology, people have the ability to get in contact with one another easier, faster than ever before. For example, when people want to deliver news to his or her relatives, all they need is just a few clicks on their phones connected to the Internet, and then people can share information with one another more straightforward and save time, especially in emergency cases.

In conclusion, it is my firm belief that although the Internet has some drawbacks on our life if we rely on it too much, its advantages are undeniable in today’s world. Had it not been for the advent of technology, people could have been behind the ages.
