Topic: Nowadays, in many countries, women have full-time jobs. Therefore, it is logical to share household tasks evenly between men and women. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

My essay:

The number of female full-time workers has been on the rise in these contemporary days. As a result, there is no doubt that both men and women should have equal responsibility for their household chores. From my perspective, there is little to disagree with this observation.

Granted, some people claim that the onus of doing housework lies on women. This is predicated on the assumption that it is a traditional belief that women must stay at home and are considered to be housewives and men are regarded as breadwinners and go to work. According to this theory, women are undoubtedly the ones who are held accountable to do household chores. However, this line of reasoning is not sound because of the transformations of the modern world. In the era of new technologies, which demands a huge amount of manpower to manufacture and process data, women are required to serve as a worker and have the similar role as men, so it is necessary to divide the household tasks correspondingly.

Moreover, it is essential to share household chores since the excessive amount of work can lead them to some health issues. If women have to shoulder the burden of working and doing household tasks, they may be stressed and exhausted. For example, most ordinary female employees constantly work from nine to five, and when they are off work, they have to pick their children from school, prepare the meals, do the laundry, clean the house and even handle extra assignments at work. This tends to create pressure for them and gradually forms some psychological problems like depression or anxiety disorder.

In conclusion, I am of the opinion that it is crucial that women and men share the housework equally because of the similar roles of both genders in society and some health problems associated with an overwhelming amount of work.
