In the past, many male leaders had led our society to conflicts and violence. The world would be better governed and more peaceful if it were ruled by women.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

As women are proudly proving themselves to be as capable as men, there exists a belief that women make greater leaders because their male counterparts historically provoked numerous aggressions. However, I would like to challenge this school of thought

Admittedly, for centuries, the majority of figures of authority have been men, many of whom inflicted infamous conflicts that killed millions of innocent victims. Power-hungry kings in the past waged wars on other countries and imposed unreasonable regimes and regulations that induced protests by the general people, causing constant chaos. Even nowadays, wars are still breaking out between rival nations, most of which are ruled by men. Since women are usually viewed as more composed and peaceful by nature and have had few chances to step up the ladder, it is understandable why it is suggested that women had better be leaders instead of men.

However, my assertion is that that governments should maintain a balance between officials of both genders. It is true that obsolete prejudices have limited women’s potential and they therefore deserve more rights when it comes to leadership; however, gender has nothing to do with a leader’s work personality and beliefs. It is only the fact that most leaders are male which leads some individuals to misunderstand that governing men are violent. The old view that all women are calmer and can make more nonviolent decisions for a country is not sound because some of them may also be dominance-led and have faith in the power of conflicts. It is more advisable for a government to include leaders of great variety, say, people of diverse backgrounds, races, and gender. This ensures that various ideas and opinions are equally gathered and carefully discussed before an impactful national decision is made, which lessens the possibility of violence and wars.

In conclusion, gender does not determine a leader’s vision and actions, and so men are not necessarily more violent. Therefore, a good government is not a women-dominated one, but one that promotes diversity and equality, including gender equality.
