My essay:
The table shows data about how many students did research in Australian universities in 2001 and 2010. The pie charts illustrate the proportion of local and international research students in terms of sex in the same years.
Overall, there was an increase in the total number of students who conducted reseach in the universities of Australia. Additionally, in both years, the proportion of local research students was significantly higher, compared with international students.
Looking at the details, in 2001, there were 38 849 students conducting research in Australia, only 5192 of these are international. In 2010, the total number rose to 54 081 students, and the number of international students also saw a significant increase, which was more than 14 500.
What stands out from the pie charts is that 87% of all research students in 2001 are local, this figure fell to 73% in 2010. In contrast, the percentage of research students who are international increased from 13% in 2001 to 27% in 2010. While the proportion of male and female local students were equal in 2001, by the year 2010, there was a higher percentage of males to females, at 39% and 35% respectively. Regarding international students, in 2001, females accounted for 4% of the totals, compared with 9% for males. However, by the year 2010, the proportion of female international students overtook the males, the figures for these groups were 15% and 12%, respectively.
Thank you so much!
I do not have the table/charts to check, so I will assume your statements are accurate. This is a pretty start. However, I would make some changes for grammar and logic, as follows: The table shows data about how many students did research in Australian universities in 2001 and 2010.
