Topic:

Many people decide on a career path early in their lives and keep to it. This, they argue, leads to a more satisfying working life. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

My essay:

Some people agree that in order to achieve an enjoyable working life, it is best to make an early decision on a specific occupation in their lives and try to follow it. As far as I am concerned, while it is beneficial for one to visualize his or her future at a young age, I still think it is fine taking time to find out what suits best with one’s interests and skills.

On the one hand, early visualization of career path should provide many benefits in a variety of aspects. First, this may allow one to have enough time to prepare for what he or she has aimed for. In particular, courses or degrees required for the job can be taken in advance, therefore, they will have spare time to work on additional skill sets needed for the job. Secondly, since they have planned for what they are going to be, they should know what to acquire or what to expect or to achieve on the way there. As a result, they can have a better preparation for their future occupation.

On the other hand, this may not suit other’s case. Being passionate about what you do is said to be the key thing to have a satisfying working life, but some may find it hard to know what they really enjoy doing or what they can do best in their ability. For this reason, they may need time to figure out what their talent is or what suits them best and changing job or working environment may help them a lot. Another point of view is that some may seek for promotion in their work or simply a job that offers higher salary, hopping from jobs to jobs may be a way to go.

In conclusion, I believe it is necessary to have the best preparation for the future but it does not mean that it has to be done as soon as possible. Take time to know what you are passionate about and a joyful, satisfying working life is right there.
