Please review my IELTS essay task 2

Topic: Some people think that universities should provide graduates with the knowledge and skills needed in the workplace. Others think that the true function of a university should be to give access to knowledge for its own sake, regardless of whether the course is useful to an employer. What, in your opinion, should be the main function of a university.

My essay:

There is an argument that universities whether should provide useful skills and knowledge attributed to future careers or should help students to be accessible to the knowledge that can be not relevant in the workplace. From my perspective, I believe a university needs to pay attention to the relevance of the knowledge which facilitates students to perform better in their future occupations.

The main purpose of students going to the university is acquiring knowledge that is of value for their future jobs. Therefore, learning about skills that are not related to their majors will be a waste of time. As an illustration, students who desire to be professional writers but it takes them a serious amount of time to attend Maths classes. In consequence, they waste their time studying the subject which is not compatible to their future.

In addition, useful knowledge plays a vital role in the graduates’ upcoming jobs. If students are well-equipped with effective techniques and knowledge in the workplace, they will perform better in their careers and accomplish successes easily. Furthermore, a university which only supplies skills that is necessary in the future not only can save time for students but also it can release the pressure of studying. As a result, students will spend more time specializing in their majors with passion and dedication instead of pressure in learning many subjects.

In conclusion, providing effective techniques and knowledge for graduates which is relevant in the workplace should be the best function for every university because education is always the fundament of future development.
