Topic:

The table shows forested land in millions of hectares in different parts of the world.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

My essay:

The table data provides information about the forest area in millions of hectares in six different continents of the world.

Overall, the data in the table depicts that there was an increase in the forest area in Europe and Asia, meanwhile other continents observed a decline during the same time. Also, Europe had the largest forest area, while Oceania had the smallest forest area.

In detail, Europe had the largest coverage of forest area of almost over 1 billion hectares from 1990 to 2005. Followed by, South America with 882 million hectares during the same period. North America was third with 705 million hectares. Oceania had the smallest forest area with 197 milllion hectares.

Asia and Europe witnessed an upward trend to 584 million and 1 billion hectares of forest land during the period. Meanwhile, other regions such as Africa, North America, South America, and Oceania was a decline. South America and Africa observed a sharp decline of 40 million hectares in 2000 and reached 882 million and 691 million hectares respectively in 2005.
