MY ANSWER:
Many big cities are under pressure from the lack of housing space and many authorities are of the belief that relocating parkland would create the better future for housing. From my perspective, I completely disagree with this notion as I suppose that city-dwellers are in need of parkland while some particular types of buildings can save open space.
Parks play an indispensable role in sprawling metropolises. Inhabitants of cities can visit parks with a view to escaping the stress of daily life. Many healthy activities can be observed from parks such as: doing physical exercise, playing board games or simply going sightseeing. These activities help create a better community. In addition, parks can be used as an image for tourism if they are well-planned. Everland Park of South Korea can be seen as a typical example, which was constructed and embellished carefully and now known as one of the top priority destinations for travellers from all over the world. This park has been a lucrative investment for a small nation in East Asia.
Furthermore, there is no need for reassigning parkland thanks to the development of modern architecture. Instead of detached houses, high-rise apartments can be erected to accommodate the large number of urbanites and to save more open spaces for other purposes. For instance, most Chinese people are now living in skyscrapers which contain a plenty of flats for them. This measure has helped China deal with population explosion successfully for many decades. Besides, most parts of this country being covered by splendid high-rise buildings also attracts many tourists who love modern architecture.
In conclusion, parkland is of great importance in urban areas as a place for people to get rid of negative energy and other constructions can solve housing crisis without the cutback of parkland.
