Topic: The exploration and development of safe alternatives to fossil fuels should be the most important global priority today.

To what extent do you agree and disagree?

It is often argued by some that in the contemporary world, the exploration and development of safe altenative fuels should be on the top of the global priority list. In my opinion, I wholeheartedly disagree with this statement.

First, finding environmentally friendly resources as alternatives to fossil fuels is cost-prohibitive, whereas a number of other urgent problems need to be tackled. A prominent and familiar issue that has not been solved effectively is poverty. In both developing countries and developed countries, that a scrawny child sitting on the pavement begs passers-by for a little money or food is commonplace. This issue is far more serious in the Africa, where thousands of people have to live in reduced circumstances, where there a lot of bony children only having a dream to have a square meal once in a lifetime. A journalist commissioned to go there was died after returning home for a fort night. He passed away not due to ailments but being eaten up by a picture of a boy who was so bony that he seemed not to have skin.

Second, it will take a long time to explore alternative fuels as we have yet to have any devices particularly used for the purpose of finding resources. However, in the foreseeable future, scientists may devise machines used for this purpose. Therefore, this task is hard to tackle nowadays, but it will be no matter with our future generation. It can be concluded that if this plan is conducted today, it would compromise numerous spheres of life which are contemporarily more important, such as poverty or education.

In conclusion, people are still capable of leading a healthy lifestyle when using coal or gas, so funding for exploring renewable resources to alter them should be used for other more urgent problems.
