Studying the English language in an English-speaking country is the best but not the only way to learn language.
Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Nowadays more and more people all around the world learn English, as this language has become the most useful in all areas: science, policy and even culture. One of the ways to study English is living for some time in a native-speaker environment and a lot of learners are sure that it is the most rightful choice. Others, however, say that there are plenty other opportunities to study English. Who is right?
As for me, I strongly believe that due to an enormous amount of online resources for studying English , there is no need to study in English-speaking country to learn this language. To be specific, first of all, special apps allow users to chat with foreigners from different countries, and most of them are from English-speaking countries. Because of such platforms people have the chance to meet some everyday phrases and slang expressions as easily if they would do it in the USA or Australia. Secondly, it is known that academic language is quite dissimilar from common language, so studying among native speakers will not improve all aspects of language proficiency. In such cases, I presume, various university courses taught in English and published on Coursera will bring more benefits.
Last but not least, studying in the most popular English-speaking country is usually quite expensive and not everyone can afford. More reasonable option for such individuals to find native speaker as a tutor. By that, it is possible at least to reduce living costs.
To sum up, I would like to say it is up for you what way of studying English to choose. For me, no doubts that effective studying English is possible not only in English-speaking countries.
