Topic: Today, TV channels provide men's sport shows more than women's sport shows. Why, should TV channels give equal time for women's sport and men's sport?
More and more men's sporting events are broadcasting on the tv channels, compare to that of women. A growing number of people being into men's sporting events is the main reason for this and I totally agree that producers should pay equal attention to women's sport.
Considerably outnumbering a viewers is a contributing factor why men's sport shows are more popular and famous than women's one. More people watching means that more advertising contracts are signed, more sponsorship from big investors and earn more money. Take World Cup 2018 as an example, more than 2 billion people include viewers and spectators watched and immersed into the fun atmosphere to cheer for historical football match every four-year. Giving men's sport a higher priority is, therefore, a wise strategy to earn large profits and attract more advertising contracts.
However, I would agree that producers should not be biased toward men's sport and female athletes ought to be given equal opportunities. If men's sport programs continued to receive significantly more coverage than the programs of the opposite sex, it might increase gender inequality and then a controversy wave would appeared on every articles. Another reason why broadcasters should show more women's sport programs is the dramatical increase in viewers having interest in female athletes, and hence, television's shows should focus on this area.
In conclusion, the more men's sport shows people follow, the more money producers make is the main reason why sport events of men appear in popularity, and I am in favor of balancing on men's and women's sport programs.
