Some people think that hosting an international sports event is good for the country, while some people think it is bad. Discuss both views and state your opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

ANSWER:

In this era, many countries are competing with each other just to hold international sporting events. The economic aspect is one of most reasons why every country is eager to host sporting events internationally. In my opinion, it will be a great opportunity to increase foreign people visiting their country. However, this aspect could be a double-edged sword for some countries if they could not present the event carefully.

When it comes to hosting an international sports event like the Olympics, there are several things that the host should think about. For instance, the host country should calculate the costs of building new infrastructures such as stadiums and facilities that are necessary for the event. Many countries have difficulty end paying the costs of the event because it has a tendency to increase over time and could be higher than what is expected.

Even though holding an international sports event could be very costly for host countries, it could lead to increased recognition from the other countries. Indonesia, for example, has successfully gotten attention from other countries for being an Olympics host. Many stores and hotels near this city earn income from foreign visitors, boosting the local economy. Major sporting events also require investment in building stadiums and hotels, which create a positive multiplier effect within the local economy.

In conclusion, although organizing major international sports could be challenging for some countries. I personally agree that hosting international sporting events gives more advantages through increased recognition and improvements.
